Deep in the Wildwood you’ll find your muse

A Deep in the Wildwood photography session

    A Muse Among the Branches

There are days when the forest feels like an accomplice. On a soft, gently-sunny morning in the New Forest, I stepped beneath the branches with Nikita, a model whose quiet strength and striking presence made her seem born of bark and shadow. Her clothing echoed the idea of a muse from an older tale. Nothing theatrical, nothing costume-like. Just subtle textures and forms that suggested a woman who has walked these ancient paths long before anyone thought to pave them.

    Becoming the Myth

In the Wildwood, she became someone different. Someone older. The way she held herself, the way her gaze drifted past the camera to some unseen presence among the roots, suggested a spirit who knows both the refuge and the danger found beneath the canopy. This is what Deep in the Wildwood seeks to reveal. Not fantasy, but the parts of us that remember story and soil. Nikita’s portraits are fragments of that shared memory, her expression a reminder that the line between muse and myth is thin as moss on stone. Together we created some beutiful mystical woodland portraits.

    When the Forest Speaks

Working with her felt like a conversation between light, leaf and human presence. The images we created whisper of watchful goddesses and wild-eyed guardians, of women who once shaped the forest and were shaped by it in return. Perhaps those spirits never left. Perhaps they simply needed someone to look for them. And Nikita, with her fierce elegance and quiet wonder, helped the Wildwood speak again.

    Step Quietly… Then Step In

If you feel the pull of the trees and the hush of stories older than brick and asphalt, there is space for you in this series too. I’m always seeking individuals who are curious about stepping into the Wildwood and discovering who they might become there. Whether muse, warrior, wanderer or something entirely your own, the forest is waiting. Get in touch if you’d like to explore it with me and let’s create some mythical forest portraits together. Life really is pretty good despite the horrors we are putting upon our wonderful world. I have the most wonderful wife who really makes me understand the value and meaning of marriage. And there is so much that brings joy - my dog, my cat, my hens, living in the countryside, folk music, ceildhs, going to gigs, sitting reading, watchig the fire in the wood burner, the smell of air-dried laundry, the chatter of the birds in the garden, the swifts of summer and the snows of winter, the first butterfly of spring, the first frost of autumn, me, yes, me, I love me (and I'm proud to say that becuase it took a while), the feel of the summer air on my skin on the beach, sitting in the middle of the forest... and much much more. Life is wonderful and I wish that for you too.
