Marriage proposal at a music festival!

Wedding proposal during Karine Polwart’s set at the Dorset Purbeck Folk Festival!

It’s not often I get to photograph the marriage proposal but just occasionally I do…. Here’s the story of when Pete proposed to Catherine…

One of my favourite little festivals is Purbeck Valley Folk Festival, which takes place every August at Langton Matravers in Dorset. It’s gorgeous, small, intimate and friendly, with the chance to get close to the music.

Last year, while watching Karine Polwart’s set, Alix from Thirstyman spotted me, ran over, and told me that her fellow musician Peter was about to propose to his girlfriend Cath!

Now I’m usually a nice photographer when trying to make my way through a crowded venue, unlike some I’ve seen. I appreciate that people have paid good money to be there and want to see and hear the band – but this time, I just pushed and pushed my way through, knowing that Pete’s wedding proposal was imminent! And yet, as I got close, I did need to be discrete, as I didn’t want Cath to get any hint of what was about to happen!

I just made it!

She said yes! Of course! And I’m hoping to photograph the wedding of course!
