Bournemouth Beach Fire Performer
Amy Lee fire performer from Pantheatrix
I first saw Amy the fire performer at the Purbeck Valley Folk Festival where she was performing with Pantheatrix, and I loved what they were all doing.
Anyway, she saw the work I created and shared online and loved it, and told me so!
She was an obvious candidate for my Obsessions project and so we arranged a photo shoot one very cold winters evening, on Bournemouth beach, close to Boscombe Pier, and together with my partner Barbara we set about creating some stunning fire performer images. One object of doing work like this is to practise techniques I don’t often use, and in this instance it was off camera flash. This can be a challenging technique and is often one of those things that works brilliantly in a relaxed setting like this… but as soon as I try to use it in the frantic setting of a wedding, I find my equipment doesn’t always do what I expect. Hence the need for professional development and continual practice and challenge.
Obsessions Portrait Photography
My Obsessions Portrait Photography series has been exhibited twice so far, and is a series of work exploring ordinary people doing extraordinary things in their spare time. Doing the things they love most, the things that maybe keep them going through dull weeks until their time is free and they can be themselves again.
