My approach to portrait photography has changed dramatically since the time when photography was just a hobby for me; I never did it then! I first picked up a camera to photograph nature and landscapes, and I strove to exclude any sign of people from my pictures. Today, even my personal work such as Obsessions and Wildwood completely revolves around people. Such a change. I often wonder what a psychologist would make of it…

Whether it be documenting the joy of wedding, helping a business connect with its customers, photographing a family, or an art project, it is all about people, people, people!

Family Portrait Photography

Family portraits are one of the most common reasons for commissioning a photographer, and with today’s technology, we have the freedom to do so much more than before. Studio photography has been revolutionised and is no longer staid and stuffy but instead full of life, and laugher, and colour. Tell me more

However I do love to work in traditional styles though, and black and white images are hugely popular. Timeless, and fashionless, these portraits stand the test of time to become treasured items in your family home.

Location Portrait Photography

And location shoots can be one of the best ways of telling the story of your family life, from wonderful walks in the autumn forest to fun-filled days on the summer beach. It’s all about story telling with images.

Pregnancy and Maternity Portrait Photography

Pregnancy is such a special and important part of the story too, and thanks to Demi Moore’s icon photo shoot from many years ago, maternity photography has been revolutionised. On your own with your bump, with your partner, with your other children, the choice is yours, as is the style; clothed, semi-clothed, artistically naked; it’s your life, your story, your choice.

Newborns and Child Portrait Photography

And the same is true for your newborn photography session too. I love to photograph sleeping babies, in very simply poses, simply lying lightly wrapped in calico, beautifully lit. There’s nothing better. I do have a good selection of clothes, and props too, and am really happy for you to bring your own. Newborns and babies are so special, and it is great to include you in the pictures too, in whatever way is special for you. It’s your story. I’ve recently being working with breastfeeding mums as part of a campaign to make breastfeeding more acceptable in public spaces, and many of the mums complained that when they had had family photo shoots done, their photographer declined to include any breastfeeding portraits in the photography, which left these mums feeling disappointed. Babies and children grow and change so quickly and I have many customers who come back time and time again as their children have grown over the years.

Couple and Engagement Portrait Photography

Your story as a couple too is important, and a photography session in the forest, on the beach, sharing special time is a beautiful gift, maybe to each other, or something you could give your son or daughter. This can be used to produce a Signing Book for a wedding too. Tell me more
